When Posing Ain’t An Option

My son Henry will be 2 years old at the end of this month! I’m always amazed and (I admit I’m partial) impressed at the things he says and does, though this includes “No” when I want to take a picture of him now. Can’t figure out why he does this but he does.

I had my studio set up recently and wanted to take advantage of the fact that he was already dressed up. Of course, he wasn’t interested in posing so I laid him on the seamless paper and tried to distract him. I was able to get two shots off before he jumped ship. Fortunately, this is my normal style of photography: I’m interested in the expression and the fleeting moments during a shoot. Whether or not a child wants to pose is no big deal, as long as they stay where the light’s good.
